The first time I watched "The Story of Stuff" it brought me to a completely new level of awareness about the impact we've had on our environment. It's overwhelming to think of all the areas of our lives that have been impacted by our culture of capitalism and what the future may look like. I found it particularly interesting how the woman doing the narration in the video says she sought to find out the path trash takes before it ends up where it does because that's something not many people will actually go the lengths to find out. The cycle of our trash is a long one that basically suits our main need for money as fast as possible. The truth is that we have put our health on the back burner, and the planet on the other and once we know that, it becomes a moral issue that hangs over us. Marketing happens to us effortlessly, that is made clear in "The Story of Stuff", and it definitely upsets me that society blindly follows such a destructive system. The latest efforts from corporations to force people to buy based on compatibility is a nearly unavoidable tactic that is becoming more common. Basically, the video paints our society as stuck in a rut of immoral, greedy, consuming, waste-machines and that we need to hurry up and change our ways before it's too late.
